During the period from 25 May through 2 April, 2026, I visited 33 sites in the Chain Lakes Wilderness area and imaged the area around the location with a photographic Drone (DJI Air3). The image above is one of those. In total (July 24) there are over 400 images in the gallery. I have added titles to all which also contain the 'heading' of the drone when the pictures was taken. Using the heading with a map you can determine what is in the field of view. Headings are in degrees from 0 to 360. The compass diagram given here shows the relation between heading and compass points. The Zenphoto software provides an Open Street Map on each image page that you can use for reference. The Google map below marks the launch sites and each placemarker has a link to a photo gallery with many images for that location, some 180 degree panoramas and some wide angle images. One example image is shown by clicking on the location pin. By clicking on the index picture a larger version will be shown. ESC removes the popup box. The blue circles on the map surrounding the launch sites have a radius of 1.5 km. At 120 above ground, the distance is about 5 degrees below the horizon. You will note that at 1.5 km, the wilderness area has been pretty well covered with images. There are areas that are roadless and difficult to reach. The orange circles are areas I plan to visit. The area outlined in green is the region of Crown Land proposed for the Chain Lakes Wilderness Area. The direct link [Gallery Link] to the whole Drone Image Gallery is given below. Each Album can be seen as a slide show or individually. It is recommended that the slide show be seen in full screen mode for best impression (unfortunately the software crops the images in this mode.). In order to keep the file sizes reasonable the images have been reduced in resolution. These can be download from the gallery. If you need the higher resolution images please contact me.
